Who I am

I'm Raphael. I make music for video games. Even though I'm the most at home with the fantasy, adventure and JRPG-like genres, I'm able to work on a diverse range of projects that require diverse kinds of music. I'm at my best when you need music that moves people's hearts.

How I Work

First I like to have an idea of what to do. It can be as simple as just a mood or as complex as a full script but the important part is that I know where to go. Visuals are of special importance to me. Then, just as artists look for reference, I like to gather and analyze diverse musical recordings as supplied by the client.

I use the best music software available to realize my tracks. They range from a cinematic orchestra to electronic synths and even ethnic instruments from all around the globe. Most of the time I will play each instrument's line myself using a digital piano and a separate midi controller, for realism. This method also allows me to compose extremely fast. .

Why I Work

I believe games deserve excellent music. One of the key elements is a defined, singable and catchy melody. How many times have you hummed a theme from a beloved piece of media, be it a video game or film? For how long have opera arias been stuck on our ears? I believe my clients deserve this same amount of memorability. I believe in establishing a deep emotional connection with those who play your game and are moved by your stories.
